Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal released ‘Punjab Vision 2022’, which aims to involve society and the leadership to work in a cohesive manner by synergising the strengths and competencies in key areas.
Compiled by the CII-Chandigarh, the report is an attempt to gauge the aspirations of the people in terms of 12 defined themes like health, education and skill development, agricultural revitalisation, and business.
The vision document is based on the ‘bottom-up approach’.
The study has explored primary as well as secondary sources to develop a holistic understanding of the scenario. Primary data emanated from a series of six workshops covering 342 people from all walks of life and 19 interviews with eminent personalities of Punjab.
The report states Punjab would boast of world-class infrastructure in terms of responsive network of healthcare units, quality educational institutes, research and development, stadiums, seamless connectivity and abundant power among others.
However, it also points out that for ensuring effective implementation of Vision 2022, it is mandatory to involve the administration. Decision makers in core committees and task forces are a must. If needed, this arrangement may even be formalised through executive order, it stated.
