The special court will issue orders on the custody and bail applications filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy respectively after hearing the arguments of their counsel on Thursday.

Supreme Court lawyer Atul Anand, appearing on behalf of Reddy, on Wednesday questioned the arrest and also the application for custody of his client by the CBI stating that he was neither involved in the day-to-day affairs of Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) nor the CBI had brought any material evidence in support of their request before the court.

However, the judge asked him to confine to the bail application and not go into the merits of the case at this stage while asking the CBI counsel to respond to the relevant issues raised by the other side.

CBI counsel Ravindra informed the court that they had all the material evidence against the accused and would submit the same to the court in a sealed cover.

When he sought time till evening to file a counter affidavit against Reddy's bail application, his lawyer requested the court to post the arguments for tomorrow to enable them to go through the affidavit. The judge agreed to his request.

Former Karnataka minister along with OMC director BV Srinivasa Reddy were remanded to a 14-day judicial custody by the CBI special court on Monday.
