The Congress Party today said a decision on the fate of Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan's will be taken after November 8 amid indications that his resignation could be accepted.

"A decision will be taken after November 8. We do not want to spoil anyone's Diwali," highly placed Congress sources said after the conclusion of the AICC meeting.

Chavan had offered to resign from his post after his name came up in the Adarsh Housing Society scam.

At the meeting, Chavan was seated on the dais along with top Congress leadership as also Maharashtra PCC President Manikrao Thakre who is embroiled in another controversy on collection of funds for Sonia Gandhi's rally in Wardha.

Heavy Industries Minister and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, a known detractor of Chavan, was also on the dais during the session.

The Congress leadership made no reference to the housing scam or the Commonwealth Games scam during the AICC session.

CWG Organising Committee Chairperson Suresh Kalmadi and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who have traded charges against each other on the Games scam, were also present at the session.
