Our Bureau BUSINESS STANDARD

The Exim policy has allowed sale of goods and services from the domestic tariff area (DTA) to special economic zones (SEZs) to be treated as exports.

This will entitle domestic suppliers to drawback or DEPB benefits apart from exemption from central sales tax or service tax. In the reverse flow, domestic sales by SEZs will be exempted from special additional duty.

Nod for contract farming

Agricultural and horticultural processing export oriented units (EOUs) have been allowed to provide inputs and equipment to contract farmers in DTA to promote production of goods to match the requirement of importing countries.
