Nation’s defence units will showcase their defence capability at a week-long defence show, organised for the first time during the on-going Dasara celebrations here.

Army, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), Bharath Earth Movers Ltd (BEML), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) are among those participating in the exhibition from September 26 to October 2.

The main attractions of this exhibition will be defence capability items like rocket launchers, radars, missiles, grenades and other armaments. Mysoreans will have the opportunity to see some of these defence equipment for the first time. Besides, a separate stall will be opened to attract youth to serve in the defence forces.

Apart from showcasing the opportunities available for youth in the defences forces, the exhibition is aimed at educating people on the country’s defence capability and modern defence equipment.

The last day’s Dasara procession too will have an additional attraction from the defence this time. MIG-23 and T-72 tank will be part of the Vijaya Dasami procession on September 28. Around 150 sepoys of the Maratha contingent will demonstrate in the torch-light parade at Banni Mantap grounds, said Dasara Media Coordinator M R Ravi today.

Meanwhile, the illumination of Brindavan Gadens at Krishnarajasagar has been extended up to 10 pm from 7 pm from September 26 to 30, on account of Dasara celebrations.
