Already facing many problems, exporters of sports goods from Punjab now are faced by a new problem in the form of delayed duty drawback payment. They are of the view that already high interest rate is affecting the industry and delay in duty drawback is pushing the industry back foot as they are facing liquidity crisis.

It is worth mentioning that Punjab contributes 50-60 per cent of India’s total sports goods exports, while the second biggest contributor is Meerut . Last year exports from Jalandhar were to the tune of Rs 350-400 crore. Almost 90-95 per cent of the Industry are in MSME category.
