Delhi, in spite of constantly having to face incessant migration of labour, has been ranked the best in the country on the sensitive issue of labour practices in the India Labour Report, 2006, by recruitment agency TeamLease Services. |
The second and third places have gone to Gujarat and Karnataka. |
Though Delhi has registered the highest migration in the country, it has been able to improve and sustain good work practices along with providing ample opportunities to people to work and grow. |
The capital has made tremendous improvement in its economic employability, legal redressal and regulatory structures, which allowed better work environment, enabling faster growth. Delhi has been credited with improvement on all the labour ecosystems indices "" demand, supply and laws "" and clinched the top spot. |
The analysis of India 's first ranking of states by labour ecosystem has been released by TeamLease Services, which has rated Maharashtra, Karnataka and Punjab the best for labour laws. |
For having the highest demand for labour in the country Gujarat, Goa and Himachal Pradesh have been ranked accordingly. And Goa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu stay ahead of others on the labour supply index. |
The report has said one way the states can improve their labour ecosystems was to amend the seventh schedule of the Constitution and move labour from the Concurrent List to the States List. |
The change will allow the reforming states to adopt strong measures without waiting for the Union government's approvals and decisions. |
