The Delhi Government today allowed retail sale of Tamiflu, the only drug to treat swine flu, from authorised chemist outlets in the capital.

A decision to this effect was taken by Delhi Minister of Health Kiran Walia and Principal Secretary (Health) G P Singh after receiving a notification from the Centre.

Walia said the Delhi Government has implemented the Centre's notification to allow sale of Tamiflu at the authorised outlets in the capital to help patients of swine flu as well as to curb the epidemic.

"We will identify chemists in every district who have Schedule X licence for sale of the drug apart from giving wide publicity to make people aware of sale of Tamiflu drug," she said.

The Centre had last week brought out a notification allowing retail sale of Tamiflu from select chemist outlets.
