The Delhi-Lahore bus was stopped by police here this afternoon as a precautionary measure following large scale violence in Punjab in the wake of the killing of chief of Dera Sachkhand Sant Rama Nand in a shooting incident in Vienna.

Official sources said that the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus was stopped in the Ludhiana Sadar police station area in view of ongoing violence at Phagwara, Jalandhar and other places falling on the route of the bus which crosses to Pakistan from the Attari international check post near Amritsar.

The bus and the passengers are safe, the sources said adding that a decision on the continuation of the onward journey of the international bus would be taken later in the day after assessing the situation to ensure the safety of the passengers and the vehicle.
