Delhi plans 1000 mw plant

 Both Tata Power and Reliance Energy Ltd, which have shown interest in taking up the gas-based project, could miss out on the contract.

 A final decision on the project is expected after the Assembly elections. Over the past six months, the state government has been deliberating whether to go in for the competitive bidding or to enter into an agreement with a private company to set up the plant as a joint sector project.

 If the government decides to execute the project on its own, the state-owned generation company _ Delhi Genco _ may contract out work to equipment suppliers and engineering procurement construction (EPC) contractors.

 The state government is yet to decide on an adviser to suggest the modalities of the project
