Delhi to get 50 new CNG filling stations soon

In all,100 new CNG stations would come up in Delhi and NCR before the commencement of Commonwealth Games 2010, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said today.     

Dikshit along with Petroleum Minister Murli Deora visited CNG stations in the city to take stock of the green fuel availability.     

She stated that CNG supplies for all public and private vehicles would be ensured in ample quantity.     

 

Dikshit and Deora also met the representatives of the Transport Operator Associations who apprised them of the problems they are facing in getting CNG.     

Deora assured them that his Ministry would provide all possible assistance in ensuring that ample quantity of CNG is available.     

The Petroleum Minister indicated that a scheme to provide insurance cover to CNG autorickshaw drivers, which has been implemented in Mumbai, could also be introduced in Delhi.     

Average sale of CNG in the current month is around 11.8 lakh kg per day with peak sale touching 13.5 lakh kg per day. Indraprastha Gas Ltd is augmenting its capacity in Delhi by adding 54 new high-powered electric driven compressors. This will add nearly 25 per cent to the existing capacity, 21 lakh kg per day to 26 lakh kg per day, according to a statement here.
