Deora asks oil firms to curb fuel adulteration

Petroleum Minister Murali Deora today asked oil marketing companies to take stringent measures to curb oil adultration in Maharashtra and neighbouring states.
 
The minister had convened a meeting of chief managing officers and sales and marketing directors of oil marketing companies, during which, he reviewed the measures initiated by the companies in this regard.
 
"Adulteration is a serious issue. The issue was raised during the recent discussion on Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Bill in the Rajya Sabha as well as in the meeting of a parliamentary committee. We must try to stop this menace," Deora said.
 
The meeting was attended by top officials of Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil. At preent, the oil marketing firms are taking various measures to check this menace, like mobile labs and quality inspection by the officials as well as the customers at retail outlets.
 
Besides, the companies are working on an automation project to curb incidents of adulateration.
 
Deora also asked the companies for details on the action taken against the petrol dealers found indulging in such activities.
