Petroleum Minister Murli Deora has directed state fuel retailing firms to maintain uninterrupted supplies of petroleum products, especially kerosene and LPG, in the flood affects parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
"In a review meeting today, Deora emphasised that the oil marketing companies should put in extra efforts in order that un-interrupted supplies reach the relief camps set up in the areas," an official press statement said here.
Deora has asked the companies to mobilise fuel supply to the rescue parties and vehicles in the area.
At the meeting, the minister was informed that the OMCs had put their marketing network on high alert in order to supply petrol, diesel, domestic LPG and kerosene in the flood affects parts of these states.
"By and large the supply of petroleum products have been maintained in these areas including the supplies to rescue teams and vehicles as well as the relief camps," it said.
The minister also asked oil companies to undertake relief and rehabilitation as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
"Deora has been monitoring the operations being undertaken by oil companies in the flood affected areas of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra ever since the reports of floods started to come," the statement added.
