One of the biggest private conglomerate, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is set to develop Dhirubhai Ambani Memorial House as a tourist destination here at Chorwad town in Junagadh district of Gujarat.

The memorial, which was inaugurated by the Ambani family matriarch Kokilaben on December 28, was on Friday opened to public. Wife of late Dhirubhai Ambani, Kokilaben said, "We are in process to develop this memorial as tourist destination in Gujarat. As Dhirubhai has been an idol for so many young Indians, this memorial will encourage those people to pursue their dreams."

Talking about promoting the memorial as a tourist destination, Parimal Nathwani, group president corporate affairs, RIL said, "We will send information and details about memorial to tour managers."

Converted out of Dhirubhai Ambani's residence in his native place of Chorwad, the memorial enlivens memories of legendary industrialist, the company stated.

It must noted here that Chorwad in itself is a well known tourist destination of Gujarat with the famous Somanath temple situated 40 km from here. The memorial features a pictorial gallery that has two sections. While one section contains family pictures, the other portion is about Dhirubhai's life time activities and achievements.

There is also an auditorium where a short film on his is screened.

Functioning under the auspices of Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation, the memorial will remain open between 9.30 am to 5 pm, except on Mondays due to weekly maintenance. For the visitors, a sales counter has also been set up where souvenirs like ball pans, t-shirts, caps, and shoulder bags, among other things will be available at reasonable prices.
