The Save Tiger campaign got a boost on Sunday with Uttarakhand nominating Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the first honorary wildlife warden of the hill state.
This was announced by Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank following a meeting with Dhoni. “Dhoni is our son-in-law. We are delighted to nominate him as the brand ambassador of the Save Tiger campaign,” he said. Accepting the offer, Dhoni said “I am lending my support to the Aircel-NDTV Save Tiger Campaign. I have come especially to Dehra Dun to request the Chief Minister to do whatever is in his capacity.
Nearly 200 tigers are found in Jim Corbett and Rajaji national parks, considered as natural habitat of the elusive cat.
