DMK and Left parties to meet again this evening

A meeting between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi with Left parties this morning failed to evolve a consensus on the UPA presidential nominee. The leaders will meet again in the evening.

Karunanidhi met Prakash Karat (CPI-M), A B Bardhan and D Raja (CPI) to iron out issues relating to the UPA nominee for the President. The presidential elections will be held on July 19.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister will meet Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the afternoon. This follows talks between them on Wednesday night.
