Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday offered support and cooperation to the Army for the setting up of drug de-addiction centres in the border districts of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Ferozepur and Jalandhar. An assurance to this effect was given by the chief minister to the General Officer in Commanding-in-Chief, western command, Lieutenant General KJ Singh.
The chief minister assured of all possible help and asked army officers and state government officers to jointly work out the modalities for the establishment of such centres. He also agreed to waive off any land fees to the army authorities for setting up of these centres. Singh welcomed this initiative and said the army would leave no stone unturned in realising Badal's dream project into reality. He said the projects could be implemented with mutual participation.
