Unresurfaced power supply and telecome piplelines are causing inconvenience to the people in Ahmedabad city. Added to this is the open drainage pipelines in the city. These pipelines are dug up by the Ahmedabad Electricity Company, Bharatiya Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and Reliance Telecom.
"These companies have not done the resurfacing work properly. The drainage work is done for the benefit of the people. But unresurfaced roads are creating problems to the people. The counselor members of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) are happy with the development work done in the city but we want a better resurfacing work in the city," said Surendra Baxi, counselor and standing committee member.
"The footpath water tables are not been built-up properly in various places of Ahmedabad. Currently pedestrians near the C N Vidhyalaya road are facing problems during peak hours as the roads are not been properly resurfaced. Also, the traffic is not controlled on the road," said Baxi.
"The dug-up roads are not been resurfaced in the city. The council members have asked the commissioner to do the resurfacing work as soon as possible. The cost of the drainage work is Rs 155 crore," said Jayanti Parmar, chairman of AMC.
