With the surge in the international prices of crude oil, a hike in domestic prices of diesel and petrol has become inevitable from April 1 when the administered pricing mechanism (APM) in the oil sector will be dismantled. The only alternative is to restructure duties on these products in order to absorb the impact of the fluctuations in the international prices of crude oil.
