Gujarat and the southern states are ahead of Punjab and Haryana in the implementation of e-governance. Even Himachal Pradesh is ahead of the two states.
This was stated at a meeting of representatives of the infotech departments of the five northern states and several infotech companies, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), here recently.
However, the northern states were looking to speed up the implementation of e-governance, they felt.
Nirmaljit Singh Kalsi, director, information technology, Punjab, said government employees were unwilling to adopt a new work culture and this was hindering the success of e-governance.
