The government’s e-SHRAM portal On Wednesday crossed 80 million registrations. However, the government still has a long way to go as it has only attracted only a fifth of the total workforce.
Besides, five states have been responsible for nearly three-fourths of the registrations, with West Bengal alone accounting for a quarter of registrations.
The significant trend, though, is the female registrations. While India has had a low female labour force participation rate — it had further declined to 24.8 per cent as per United Nations Global Compact India study, 2020 —more women registered on the e-SHRAM portal
