The Election Commission today asked mining magnates — the Reddy brothers — and their aide to appear before it on March 11 on a complaint seeking their disqualification for holding office of profit.

Notices were served on tourism minister G Janardhana Reddy, his brother revenue minister G Karunakara Reddy and their business associate health minister B Sreeramulu. The notices were based on a complaint filed by Congress leaders V S Ugrappa and K C Kondaiah who alleged that besides being in the ministry they were also engaged in the business of mining.

The complaint was submitted to governor H R Bhardwaj who had forwarded it to the Election Commission.
