EC okays DD News launch

The government on Thursday notified the Doordarshan News channel as a "must carry" for cable operators, even as the Election Commission (EC) gave its nod to the the launch, with certain riders.

While giving its clearance to the channel, the commission asked Prasar Bharati to ensure ensure "neutrality, objectivity and fairness" during the period of assembly polls.
