In a bold step to do away with complaints of intimidation of voters, the Election Commission (EC) will conduct vulnerability mapping of constituencies to identify troubled spots and keep extra vigil at those places.

The vulnerability mapping which was introduced for the first time during the assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh would be done in all the 543 parliamentary constituencies in this general elections, Deputy Election Commissioner R Balakrishnan told reporters.

The exercise would be done in three phases -- identify those villages and hamlets vulnerable to intimidation, identify the trouble makers within five days of issue of poll notification and take firm action against them, he said.

The Commission would also identify the critical polling stations in each Parliamentary constituencies on the basis of the percentage of voting in the last elections, he said.
