EC to review the security aspect of poll-bound states

The Election Commission has called a high level meeting to review the secuirty aspect in five states which are going for assembly polls shortly.

"The chief secretaries, home secretaries, DGPs and chief electoral officers of all the states which are going for assembly elections will be present at the meeting in New Delhi to review the security aspects," Additional Chief Electoral Officer N K Sahana told reporters today.

"Besides the chief secretaries, home secretaries and DGPs of the states which border the poll-bound ones are also summoned to prevent arms smuggling and preempt fake voters to ensure smooth and peaceful polls" Sahana said. "As West Bengal, apart from Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and Assam, share the border with Bangladesh, the Election Commission already held a meeting with the Border Security Force (BSF) and it has been decided that the international boundary will be sealed two days prior to the elections," Sahana added.
