Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) has launched the first batch of its two year programme Post Graduate Diploma in Management — Development Sector, which has gained recognition by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
The course curriculum has been designed to facilitate the performance of students interested in non-government organisations (NGOs). The course will also train students to set up their NGOs. The institute would offer placement services to students. The institute has also received approval for forming an additional batch (2010-2012) for its PG programme, which is, the Post Graduate Diploma in Management-Business Entrepreneurship.
The course has been specially designed for those who wish to set up their own business and for those who wish to join their family business. The objective is to promote entrepreneurship as an ideal career option and develop skills and competencies among young, potential entrepreneurs to set up new enterprise, according to a press release from EDI.
The programme offers dual specialisation in entrepreneurship areas of new enterprise creation, family business management, services management, agri-entrepreneurship, tourism entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education. Simultaneously, a choice could be made from the functional areas of marketing, finance & human resource.
The Institute also offers summer internship placements to students to help them explore the implementation of classroom teachings in real business situations. The students are placed in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for a period of about 10-12 weeks to gain hands-on experience of managing an enterprise before launching their own.
