Eight more new IITs approved

The IITs will be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 6,080 crores or Rs 760 crores per IIT. Academic sessions are going to commence in six new IITs starting from July 23, 2008.

Cabinet also approved for conversion of the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University into an Indian Institute of Technology and integrating it with the IIT system in the country.
