The order was won against stiff competition from multinational brands like Ingersoll Rand, Atlas Copco, and Kobelco.

The Rs 270 crore GMDC is India's largest merchant seller of lignite and one of the best performing public sector units in the state of Gujarat. The order worth Rs 3.9 crore would include down-stream accessories. ELGI is the licensed manufacturer of Hitachi's super dry screw oil free compressors.

The scope of the project would include supply of accessories like dryers, filters, receivers and piping, apart from oil free screw compressors, resulting in a complete compressed air supply system on a turnkey basis.

The project would be executed by ELGI by the end of the current financial year.
