Over 300 exhibitors will display their products at the "Jaipur Jewellery Show 2006" (JJS 2006) to be held here from December 22-25 at Rajmahal Palace. The show ever since its inception has become a mega jewellery carnival amongst the global jewellery fraternity. |
It also helps to promote the local jewellery industry of Rajasthan. The first such show was organised in November 2003 with only 67 stalls, and it increased to 276 stalls last year. |
"Emerald has been chosen as the theme this time because Jaipur is known as the processing centre of this green stone. The event will attempt to create awareness among the participants and manufacturers the world over on the beauty and qualities of this stone," says Rashmikant Durlabhji, the convenor of the committee organising fair. |
The industry wishes to promote emerald and bring back Jaipur's dominance in this business, he adds. |
There will be a display of replicas of world famous diamonds from different countries. Donna Baker, president of the Gemmological Institute of America (GIA), will inaugurate the show. |
International buyers from nine countries are participating in JJS 2006, including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the US, the UAE (Dubai) and Thailand. |
Many customers will be NRI jewellers who visit their hometown Jaipur during winter season, which is also one of the reasons of organising it now, Rajiv Jain, secretary of the committee organising fair, said. |
Care has been taken to eliminate all kind of risk factors. The organisers have made fire fighting measures and have provided fire extinguishers at every stall. |
Close circuit cameras monitoring the event, more space to exhibitor, excellent power backup and other basic facilities would double the charm of the JJS-2006, he added. |
