Bangalore-based National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) has launched Entrepreneurship Week (E-Week) India 2011 between February 5 and 12.

E-Week is a week-long campaign to build awareness and inspire public support for entrepreneurship.

This year's theme for E-Week is ‘Ideas for India’. Students of Entrepreneurship Cells (E-Cells) at 42 NEN member academic institutes in Mumbai will engage in E Week.

E-Week India is the largest entrepreneurship activity in the country and has been growing each year. Over 4,500 activities are expected to be conducted this year engaging over 600,000 participants.   “The challenges we face in India in education, waste management, power and health care are daunting. But seen through the eyes of entrepreneurs, however, these challenges provide some of the greatest opportunities of our time," said Laura Parkin, CEO, National Entrepreneurship Network.    This year, E-Week will also be launched in schools where school students will be introduced to the skills of entrepreneurship through the ‘Rs 50 Exercise’, a game that has them dreaming up, starting and running a business in a single day. Originating at Stanford University and run successfully at hundreds of top Indian institutes, the Rs 50 Exercise has been adapted to work for students aged 7–12 years.   Also, during the week, participants on and off campuses across the country - students, entrepreneurs, faculty members, industry leaders and key members of the community will take the E-Week pledge to keep working towards an entrepreneurial India and a dynamic, growing economy.   Over 500 top-tier academic institutes across India are NEN mebers with over 380 student Entrepreneurship Cells.
