The government of West Bengal (GoWB) is reconsidering the imposition of entry tax in the state. Sabyasachi Sen, principal secretary for commerce and industry, GoWB, said all the chambers of commerce had made presentation to the commerce ministry opposing the tax.

State finance minister Asim Dasgupta in his budget speech this year had announced that entry tax would be imposed and a bill to this effect would be placed in the Assembly. So far, the bill has not been introduced.
