Environment lens on 3 Chhattisgarh industries

The Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board has served notices to three units including Monnet Ispat and Energy Limited for defying pollution control norms. “During inspection in the Monnet plant, officials found chimney emitting dense smoke that was beyond the prescribed norms of pollution,” a senior official of the CECB said.

Besides Monnet, the board has served notices to Agrawal Vidyut and Shyam Sponge. In the notices served on the units that sought explanation why strict action cannot be taken against it, the board has asked to file the explanation within 15 days.
