The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (EPDCL) is expecting a net profit of Rs 10 crore this fiscal, said V V Maheswara Reddy, associate president of the EPDCL Engineers Federation, here on Monday.

The company's profit before tax was Rs 30 crore during the first six months of this fiscal, and the distribution losses have reduced from 19.23 per cent to 15.63 per cent, he said.

"According to the company's target distribution, the losses will not exceed 15 per cent in the rural feeders, 7.5 per cent in the urban feeders and 10 per cent in the mandal headquarter feeders. The EPDCL engineers have been working accordingly to achieve the targets. In an effort to improve the customer services further, our federations have recommended some suggestions including the creation of a section office for every 10,000 services and computerisation of these section offices apart from providing mobile phones to the field engineers," he said.

The EPDCL stood first among the four distribution companies in the state in terms of performance and has been ranked 165th among the top 500 super heavyweights in the country during 2002. In the industry-wise ranking (power sector) also, the EPDCL is ranked 21 out of the 30 companies which are engaged in power generation, transmission and distribution.
