The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is issuing social security numbers (SSN) to provident fund subscribers as part of an exercise to speed up settlement process.

"On completion of this process, the Provident Fund (PF) office will be in a position to settle claims much faster than at present and members may get online information regarding their provident fund account," a release issued here today said.

All employers and employees covered under the EPF & MP Act, 1952, and falling under the jurisdiction of the regional office, Mumbai-I, Bandra, have been asked to collect blank SSN forms from the PF office.

They could also download such forms from EPFO's official website www.Epfindia.Com or www.Epfindia.Gov.In, a release issued here today said. They are required to submit the filled-in SSN forms to the EPFO office within a month.

Employers, who were earlier issued SSN forms, have to submit such forms duly completed immediately. The EPFO stated that this was a time-bound exercise and, therefore, employers were required to strictly adhere to the prescribed time limit of one month.
