ESI to provide better health facilities for labourers

Minister of State for Labour and Employment Oscar Fernandes, made this announcement while laying foundation stone of 100 bedded ESIC Model Hospital at Baddi here today.

The 100 bedded ESI hospitals in Baddi would be the first ESI Model Hospital in Himachal that would come up over an area of around 11000 square metres. Fernandes revealed that ESI Corporation was looking for suitable land in states where the ESI proposed medical colleges could come up.

 

He added that Kerala government had recently offered the land for construction of medical college and they were looking for similar offers from other states as well.

Fernandes said that ESI Corporation with around 144 hospitals chain was determined to provide better health care facilities and were looking for ISO certification to all the ESI model hospitals.

Also the corporation has plans to start nursing colleges, dental colleges and para medical schools in ESI hospitals apart from having MRI and CT scan machines installed in the hospitals.

Fernandes said that in order to have super specialist doctors in ESI hospitals, they also plan to run super specialty courses in ESI hospital as well.

Among other plans, the corporation has plans to train the paramedical staff and nurses working in the ESI hospital to update them with latest technology.

The minister said that they were also looking to open fifty thousand vocational centres across the country in next five years to meet the demand of skilled labour required in industries.
