Essar, Tatas keen to invest in WB, says CM

The Essar group is keen to invest in a steel project in West Bengal, chief minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee said today.

Addressing the annual general meeting of BCCI, Bhattacharjee said the group would use coal bed methane (CBM) from Ranigunj for the steel plant, the specifics of which were being worked out.

He said that the Tatas were also willing to set up a power generating unit in the state.

Bhattacharjee said the legal aspects of the project were being looked into since it involved private sector participation.
