All the 1,616 retail outlets across the state will be covered as per the union petroleum ministry's schedule for supply of ethanol-blended petrol by March, 2004. But this will be subject to the availability of ethanol, according to oil companies.

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL)and IBP on Monday commenced full-fledged supply of ethanol-blended petrol in nine districts.

The blended fuel is available at all the 674 retail outlets in these nine districts --East Godavari, West Godavari, Guntur, Khammam, Krishna, Prakasham, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram.

Till yesterday, 174 outlets had been selling this blended petrol in parts of East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna and Khammam districts. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) launched the supply of blended petrol in Visakhapatnam and Ongole during this month.

By December, 12 more districts will be covered. The remaining districts--Nellore and Chittoor--will get their supplies from Tamil Nadu.
