Fair price shops in Delhi to get PoS machines by March 2017: Kejriwal

GPS-based system will help in keeping track of commodities sent from godowns to the shops and the amount received

Aiming to check pilferage in the food distribution system, Fair Price Shops across the national capital will be equipped with Point of Sale (PoS) machines by March next year, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday.

PoS machine is a GPS-based system which will help in keeping track of commodities sent from godowns to the shops and the amount received. Ration card beneficiaries will also be linked with the Aadhar biometric system, he said.

It will pave way for speedy inclusion of people, who are in actual need of such benefits, in the public distribution system and the work will be completed by March 31, 2017, he told a press conference in New Delhi.

 

Meanwhile, Kejriwal also announced that around 17,000 guest teachers working with Delhi government schools will get fixed monthly salaries of around Rs 32,000 - Rs 34,000 per month.

"A decision in this regard will be soon taken by the Cabinet. We are also working to regularise them and the file pertaining to that decision is being sent to the Lt Governor once again," the CM said.

Under the current arrangements, the guest teachers are entitled to daily wages in the range of Rs 700 to Rs 900 per day. Their monthly earnings come around Rs 17,000 to Rs 20,000.
