As many as 200 farmers from Bellary met governor Rameshwar Thakur today, protesting against the BJP government’s decision to establish an airport at Bellary, displacing their farm lands.
The farmers led by Diwakar Babu (Congress),
Y S V Dutta (Janata Dal (S) and Maruthi Manpade (CPI-M) submitted a memorandum to Thakur, police said.
The government’s decision to establish an airport at Bellary led to a stir by farmers a few weeks ago.
The police had to resort to lathicharge to bring the situation under control.
