Fee ceiling likely for technical institutes

The government may, by June, fix a ceiling on the fee charged by technical institutes, including management institutes and engineering colleges.
 
"Even though each institute will be allowed to charge a fee structure depending on their requirements, they will be bound by a ceiling before the next academic session starts," R Natrajan, chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education ( AICTE), said at a seminar on institutional governance.
 
Natrajan also said the council was taking steps to ensure that the educational institutes met certain quality standards.
