BUSINESS STANDARD

The fertiliser ministry has decided to oppose the proposed increase in the prices of natural gas. It will call for a status quo on the issue in view of the mounting fertiliser subsidy bill which is expected to cross Rs 14,000 crore during the current financial year.

The fertiliser ministry is expected to take a strong stand on the issue at an inter-ministerial meeting, convened by the petroleum ministry here tomorrow. Fertiliser minister S S Dhindsa is expected to attend the meeting.
