The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) will hawk investment themes, projects and schemes of Madhya Pradesh globally to attract investment in the state.

The state government has earmarked approximately Rs 4 crore for the purpose. The programme will be launched tomorrow in New Delhi.

Despite a lot of efforts to attract investment the state government failed to attract investment in the state, particularly Foreign Direct Investment.

To iron out problems and hurdles in marketing the investment projects and schemes state government, this year, roped in Ficci for selling its themes and potential in various areas.

Ficci has already chalked out a detailed programme and will showcase the potential in Madhya Pradesh globally through website, interactions, roadshows and similar activities.

The programme will culminate in a mega event 'Destination Madhya Pradesh - Global Investors Summit 2007 which will take place in Bhopal at Lal Parade Ground in month of January next year. Ficci has also developed a website for the event www.destinationmadhyapradesh.com for the event.

According to a top official in department of industries, "State chief minister Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch the website and roadshow on August 4 at Ficci house. Industrialists will have one to one interaction with FICCI general secretary Amit Mitra and Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan."

The event which will be organized in Bhopal next year will showcase ground breaking realities and innovations in the fields of industrial manufacturing, management, logistics, technology, information technology, industrial processing, automation, packaging, digital factories, Industrial facilities and management & services and the infrastructure available in the state.

The summit will also underline values as a major knowledge-sharing platform, and will put the spotlight on all the latest development, policies, processes, solutions and market trends.

The Summit is jointly being organized by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) & Government of Madhya Pradesh.

FICCI will also showcase industrial capabilities of the state, achievements and innovations through an exhibition. Mining, tourism, power, roads, auto and auto components, agriculture, agro processing and horticulture, logistics, engineering, textiles and apparels, electrical and electronics, information technology, chemical and pharmaceuticals, cement, forest and environment are some major areas which are yet to be tapped in Madhya Pradesh.

Although BJP led state government had framed the new Industrial Policy in 2004, investors have given a lukewarm response to the policy as a result of which the state government is improving the policy mid-way.
