The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry will partner the Madhya Pradesh government in investment promotion.

It will hold a world summit on January 6-7, 2007. With a view to bringing Madhya Pradesh at par with industrially advanced states of the country and propagating the scope of attracting capital investment, the state Cabinet had earlier decided to organise "Destination Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit later this year. Rs 3.45 crore is estimated to be spent on this mega event to be organised at various levels. Earlier the event was scheduled to be held in the state capital in the month of March but due to change of guards and political crisis in BJP the event has been postponed.

"The Budget has been cleared for the project and we are going to organise our first executive council meet today," a FICCI source told BS.

The Ficci will ready a blueprint of the programme will ready a strategy to showcase MP on "Second Generation Development Roadmap." It will also include a survey work.

FICCI will offer its consultancy services on promotion of agriculture, derisking of agriculture, employment and marketing of projects to attract global investors. FICCI is also going to organise an interactive meet with local small and medium enterprises on May 5 to suggest changes in industrial promotion policy for enhancing competitiveness in SME sector.

In absence of aggressiveness from local chambers the industrial organizations are suffering in the state. Some of the local chambers like Federation of Madhya Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry which houses a number of local small trade chambers, is at dying stage.

Further the state government officials find it difficult to address the issues of local chambers in absence of proper presentation and homework.
