In a bid to boost the buoyant export industry in the state, the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has partnered with Ahmedabad-based Global Network Institute (GNI) to launch a short duration course on International Trade Management Course at Ahmedabad.
The course titled 'Certified International trade expert' (CITE) is an outcome of an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the the apex body for exports, FIEO and Global Network institute, that was signed in July earlier this year.
The course is mainly aimed at entrepreneurs and professionals working in the domain of imports and exports and even students who have aims of setting up trade ventures in and outside of India. At a fee of Rs 10,000, the short term course will have two batches of 15 students each with a duration of three classes per week with flexible timing.
"It is an open-ended and flexible course, that would foster entrepreneurial spirit in global markets an promote India's exports. We would also be introducing the students to various trade opportunities that can be taken advantage of from the world of social media networking through which they can increase their client base. Practical, internet based tools and innovative methods will also be taught to the students that can help them to promote their business,” said Jagat Shah, Founder and chief mentor at GNI.
He further added, “While we bring our expertise of the domain of successfully having educated around 2000 students from our institute, FIEO brings the credibility and industry know-how to the course. Also our networks in different countries like Canada, EU and China will help get our students in acquiring a practical view of international trade.”
Some of the broad areas that will be covered in the short duration course are as processes involved in import- export, documentation for the same, the custom excise guidelines to follow, the role of RBI and its pertinent guidelines, technology transfer and also on how to develop the export market.

According to industry estimates, currently the export industry is pegged at Rs 30,000 crore for the year 2010-11, while FIEO has estimated an export business of Rs 53,700 crore in the year 2014-2015 to be generated from India.
FIEO is an apex trade body set up by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India as a trade facilitator to promote exports in the country.
