Finance Commission to consult TERI in HP

Commission Chairman Vijay Kelkar said this to a section of the media here yesterday before leaving for Delhi.      Environmental degradation due to economic development in Himachal Pradesh was a major issue the 13th Finance Commission confronted during its three-day visit to the hill state, its first to any state in the country.  
   
Kelkar appreciated the human resource development in HP and was very impressed with the level of awareness among the people even in the remote areas like Chamba which figures among the 15 most backward districts of the country.     

 

The Finance Commission chairman shared the concern of the state government over climatic changes caused by global warming such as receding glaciers.     

On Friday last, chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal had submitted a memorandum to the commission seeking Rs 69,377 from the Commission in view of expected pay revision after recommendation of the sixth pay commission and on other counts.
