The Union finance ministry today categorically denied allegations made by Jagat Singh, son of former external affairs minister Natwar Singh, in an interview with a television channel that the finance minister was influencing the Volcker probe into oil-for-food scam. |
Denying the allegations, the Directorate of Enforcement said in a statement released by the finance ministry that all investigations being conducted into the Volcker report were "strictly in accordance with the law, uninfluenced by any person or any extraneous factor". |
Congress sources termed Jagat's allegations as "irresponsible statement" and said that disciplinary action could be taken against him. |
