The finance ministry is understood to have expressed that it would be difficult to mop Rs 40,000 crore from disinvestment in this financial year.
At a meeting of the full Planning Commission, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and the ministry officials indicated it would be difficult to meet the target of capital receipts this year, due to the slow process so far, officials said.
Of the target of Rs 40,000 crore, fixed to be raised through disinvestments this financial year, the government has so far mopped only Rs 1,144 crore. This amount has come from the only sale of stake in Power Finance Corporation through a follow-on public offer in May — the only disinvestmentthis year.
