Chief Ministers will converge here on October 4 to participate in the first meeting of the National Development Council sub-committee on agriculture, headed by Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar.

The day-long meeting would deliberate on issues considered critical to growth of agriculture sector, which is facing low investment and productivity, Pawar told reporters after the two and half hours long meeting of full Planning Commission chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"Today's meeting was held to identify the critical areas impeding farm sector growth. These would form the basis of the sub-committee meeting scheduled for next week," Montek Singh Ahluwalia, the panel's deputy chairman, said.
