First toll bridge under PPP mode opened in Jharkhand

The first toll bridge under private-public-partnership (PPP) built at a cost of Rs 76 crore over the river Kharkai connecting the industrial towns of Jamshedpur and Adityapur facilitating transportation was inaugurated by chief minister Jharkhand Arjun Munda on Sunday.

Tata Steel and and Adityapur Industrial Area Authority (AIADA) were the promoters of the toll bridge project and started with Rs 21 crore equity of stakeholders. Adityapur Toll bridge Company (ATBCL) was constituted and it started the construction of the bridge.

The 2.22km long bridge with four lane approach roads will help to reduce the distance between industrial townships of Adityapur in Saraikela-Kharswan district and Jamshedpur by 5-6 km.

 

Under the contract ATBCL will operate and maintain the toll bridge for a period of 30 years.

An estimated expenditure of Rs 100 crore will be spent on maintenance of the bridge.
