Fiscal Deficit In Q1 Reaches 30% Of Years Projection

The fiscal deficit in the first three months of 2002-03 has reached 1.55 per cent of the projected gross domestic product for the entire year.

According to the latest data released by the Controller General of Accounts, the fiscal deficit for the first quarter of the current year stood at Rs 39,560 crore, which was 29.2 per cent of the projected figure for the entire year.

The government's total expenditure for the first quarter stood at Rs 75,715 crore, or 18.5 per cent of the budgetary projection for the entire year. Total receipts at Rs 36,155 crore remained at 13.2 per cent of the projected figure. In this year
